My self Nabeela Azami, born in Banaras, brought up in
Malegaon and Vaniyambadi, settled in Bangalore, has a very loving and caring
family. I belong to a family of educationists. My father is an Arabic scholar, who studied in Madeenah university and mother
is a home maker, making my upbringing in
the Islamic culture. I never really knew what is meant to be just a kid, I was
always matured for my age.
I had a lot of people who invested in me and I excelled in
most of my varied hobbies.I did well in
school. Often knowing how to do complex topics in different subjects, before it
had even been introduced to our class. I would like to share the best critics
by my Maths teacher that “ I teach my teachers”.
Looking back I am sure I was quite smug, although I did not
realize it at that time. Unfortunately self awareness was not some thing I
learnt until many years later.
My primary studies was completed at ‘Jamiah Muhammadiyah Education Society, Malegaon’. My
father was the Principal of the institute, for which I was always tagged as the‘Prinipal’s Daughter’, initially I enjoyed
being special, soon I realized that I need to have my own identity as well. God
Almighty provided the chance by my father’s transfer to Tamil Nadu, where I got
admitted in ‘Islamiah Girls Higher Secondry
School’.Vaniyambadi.
Over there I was ‘MYSELF’.
In my junior level of
college, I was involved in many extra curricular activities, such as elocution,
recitation of Quranic verses, debates etc. I continued the trend of just
meeting my potential, only taking on new challenges, when some one brought it
to my notice that I would be perfect for the opportunity.
My career
At the age of 19 I got
married to a man who lent his unconditional support, motivating me to further
my education and help me persue my passion. That’s how I could do my
graduation.
I got an opportunity to work as an Arabic
studies teacher for toddlers in
‘Oasis International
School’ where I was very much
fascinated by the montessori materails and the unique approach, within the spur
of the moment I decided to enroll for
The diploma in Montessori , which was a turning point of my life, where I
started exploring the children more in terms of their needs.
I developed a deep interest
in Psychology after my Montessori diploma. During my job at ‘Oasis’ I underwent
child counselling diploma, but felt it is still not sufficient and I need to
learn more, that is how I completed my BA psychology in the year 2013. I was approached
by the institute ‘Saamar International Islamic School’, where I got an opportunity to work as an HOD of Arabic and Islamic Studies, initially I
worked as a Montessori directress too.
I had a very strong feeling
that I can use many active learning strategies such as collaborative work,
hands on activities and differentiated tarning
style .The programme “coaching culture” has fine tuned my teaching strategies.
